Hand-Selected & Unique Wines
“The wines at Larkmead have always beautifully showcased a sense of time and place. Focusing our continued efforts to convert to organic and sustainable farming, we are afforded the highest quality grapes which allow us to make wines with incredible distinction and balance.”-Avery Heelan, Winemaker
The deepening understanding of the microclimate and the ground beneath the vines has afforded Larkmead the unique opportunity to create a broad and exciting portfolio of wines. In the cellar, the wines are taken on their own terms. If the wines are treated differently it is not because of their quality potential but due to the natural phenomenon of terroir.
TASTING NOTES
As you swirl your glass of 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon, deep purple and blue aromas dance out with notes of pomegranate, blackberries, leather, cassis, macerated cherries, and confectionary spice.
There is a dichotomy of tension and plush richness at the midpalate that provide layers of complexity and incredible length. This is a truly exceptional vintage for Cabernet Sauvignon.
DRINKING WINDOW
The Cabernet Sauvignon is unique this vintage as the blend is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine is comprised of parcels spanning the valley from the Vaca to Mayacamas mountain ranges, making this a true representation of the potential of Cabernet Sauvignon on the Larkmead Estate.
The conditions of the spring rain, followed by heat in the summer, allowed the grapes to build high concentrations of aromas, flavors and textures that will continue to evolve for decades. This wine can be served now but will age gracefully for the next 15-30 years. If drinking now, serve at cellar temperature and after decanting for two hours. Drink now and for the next 15-30 years
